May be a silly question: APY question for ALGO

I’m fairly new so I’m sorry if anything I say is super obvious:

I bought ALGO through a crypto exchange. I have a cold wallet I am planning to move all my crypto to.

If I move the ALGO away from the exchange and to my cold wallet, does the APY I get stop? Another way to ask this, is this APY offered by ALGO, or through the exchange?

Again, apologies if this is a dumb question. Don’t roast me too hard I’m still learning
