Developer Relations Education

Are you the rare developer, software creator, or engineer who not only dreams about solving bugs and shipping new features but loves writing, speaking, and teaching other developers what you’ve learned? Do you fantasize about taking a meaningful role in shaping platform specific developer workflows through creative approaches to tools and experiences? Are you a master implementor?

As a developer evangelist at NEAR, your mission is to educate and engage early adopters and the broader developer community about our platform. One way you’ll do this is by telling a compelling story with practical examples, similar to how a cartoon artist creates a graphic novel. That means being creative and sometimes, doing whatever it takes to prove to developers that our community and that products produced through that community have a real impact and value.

Once developers join us, your job will be to build relationships and learn from those relationships via their experiences so that you can help keep each developer active and happily building. What you find through your relationships will be shared with our core team to constantly improve on what we are building. In other words, you are a champion for our community of developers internally.

Education is crucial to the long term adoption of any new platform. The developer advocate we are looking for here specializes in education. Meaning not only do you enjoy teaching but further, you are constantly striving for the feeling you get when one of your student’s eyes lights up with understanding.

Frankly speaking, you’ll be wearing many hats. As NEAR’s core protocol is developed, you will be a key interface with the early community of adopters that are so crucial to our current and future success. You’ll need to build developer tools (often from scratch), write and present demos, tutorials, and practical examples of common and often novel implementations.

You will be a visible presence representing NEAR in communities around the world by working directly with our events and community teams. You’ll be speaking, hosting workshops, supporting developers at events, and much more. What you learn from our community of developers will be what NEAR’s North Star is in shaping the development and education roadmaps of our future.

This is a role that will allow you to build real software, yes. But it is also a role where you will be very visible. You’ll act as a soothsayer between our community of developers and our team of core contributors with your weapon of choice being documentation and developer education.  In other words, this role is one part engineering, one part community, and one part education with a sprinkle of marketing, PR, and a cherry on top.

Key Outcomes

  • Build demos, SDKs, and implementations to help bring early customers onto the platform
  • Work with the team to produce technical tools and educational materials necessary to create an amazing developer experience
  • Represent NEAR as a technical voice at major events and conferences, including speaking and supporting platform development

Key Requirements

  • 4+ years in software engineering at top companies
  • 2+ years in evangelism, education or other public-facing technical roles
  • Experience working with blockchain technologies (eg DApp development)
  • A strong track record of speaking, presenting and teaching highly technical topics
  • A clear passion for both creating software and engaging live communities

Please note:

Samples of your technical work (the design, development, and deployment of non-trivial software) will be expected as part of your submission. Samples of your technical writing (articles, workshops, presentations) will be expected as part of your submission. These can be presented as open source projects, links to online artifacts, or verbally as part of your interview process.  The more concrete the examples, the better.

About NEAR and the NEAR Collective

NEAR's mission is to enable community-driven innovation to benefit people around the world. The NEAR platform provides a decentralized application platform that is secure enough to manage high value assets like money or identity and performant enough to make them useful for everyday people, putting the power of Open Finance and the Open Web in their hands.

The NEAR platform, NEAR Protocol, and associated tooling are being built by the NEAR Collective, a collection of the best engineers in the world who work across teams, companies and countries similar to other large scale open source projects. Core contributors include a couple of 2-time ICPC world champions, 2 gold medalists, a Latin American champion and multiple other competitive programming finalists.

Working at NEAR

Roles are posted to this portal on behalf of the companies that make up the NEAR Collective and are typically located anywhere in the world because most of the companies are fully remote. Some hubs are located in Switzerland, Germany, Russia, the US and China. Regardless of where you work, this is a high performance culture that values ownership, execution and professionalism but pairs it with curiosity and experimentation. The vision is big but the right team is behind it.

JS Waku & Wallet Integrations Lead

Listed in: Blockchain Jobs.

The project & role

We are looking for candidates who are passionate about DevEx (developer experience), Web3 and who would relish the opportunity to lead the push to integrate decentralized M2M messaging into both our mobile and desktop products and 3rd party wallets.

There is a new team taking birth within Vac Research, a team that will focus on building adoption of Waku M2M (machine to machine) messaging with DApps and wallets. In the original vision Ethereum is seen as a triad of three components: a blockchain, a decentralized storage layer and a messaging layer.  Our goal is to create a fully decentralized messaging layer that can be directly used by DApps alongside the Ethereum blockchain, building on top of Whisper’s legacy.

At its simplest, to enable DApps to utilize Waku in a completely decentralized fashion, we need to create an API that client side DApp code can use to communicate over Waku via the integration of this API into wallets.

SENIOR BACKEND DEVELOPER

10/26/2020

**Position Overview:** Clarity, a Series A clean-tech startup, is looking for an experienced backend software engineer to join our software team in our mission of bringing clear air to the world. He or she will drive the technical evolution of our IoT sensor data pipeline and support our customer-facing web applications and data analysis tools. Clarity is a globally distributed organization with headquarters in Oakland, CA. **Our Company:** At Clarity, we strive to empower the world to reduce air pollution. We do that by making it accessible for cities and industries to measure and understand their air pollution issues and take effective action. Today, when cities and industrial facilities want to measure air quality at a site they have to purchase expensive monitoring equipment and invest even more to install it in container-sized shelters and integrate its measurements into their IT system. This is unacceptable because it leads to the inability to monitor air pollution at important sites and ultimately to the inability to manage air pollution. We envision a world where novel sensing technology, IoT and cloud computing simplify air quality measurement, enabling cities and industrial facilities to scale up the number of monitoring sites and take data-driven action. Our Sensing-as-a-Service solution for air quality is currently deployed in over 70 cities across 30+ countries and is changing how municipalities and industrial facilities monitor their air quality. After successfully raising our Series A (a few words from our investors here and here), we are excited to keep building on our current success elevating our product to the next level, at the forefront of the clean air movement. This is especially true of our software products, where we see a significant opportunity to increase the value we provide to our customers as well as to expand the number of use cases supported by our Sensing-as-a-Service solution. **Our Team:** We are a diverse group of engineers, scientists, and makers from all around the world who are passionate about what we do and devoted to our mission to improve the world by solving some of its greatest challenges. We believe in solving challenging problems by adopting a growth mindset, by fostering an environment that encourages deep collaboration, empathy, and creativity, and by keeping a good sense of humor. We enjoy philosophical debates as much as nerding out about the soldering talents of our HW engineers or the cool data visualizations we create. Although we always have our mission in mind, we know the path for any startup has ups and downs and we’re more than happy to face them together as a team. How else could you tackle a problem as complex and global as air pollution? **Job Description:** We are seeking a highly self-motivated and passionate backend developer with a proven track record in delivering top-quality code and architectural solutions to bring our Clarity Cloud to the next level. Your key responsibilities will be: - Leading development and maintenance of key system features, including APIs, workers, and databases. -Interfacing with product management to brainstorm technical solutions to business requirements and evaluate technical feasibility of innovative product features. - Working with other team members to investigate architecture best practices, design approaches and prototype new technology. - Collaborating in an Agile environment to deliver high quality software against well established schedules. Our product is multidisciplinary, ranging from ubiquitous IoT hardware to scalable data pipelines, advanced data quality assurance algorithms and insightful data analyses. You will enjoy freedom of action around these topics and be encouraged to take initiative for making our software offerings truly revolutionary in the clean-tech space. You will have plenty of opportunity to work closely with our customers and end-users who hail from industry, government, NGOs, community groups, and academia. You will be working closely with our CTO to help guide Clarity to success. We believe Clarity could be the right place for you to join the fight to solve environmental issues around the world by leveraging your software superpowers! **Qualifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar technical field. - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience. - 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design of new and current systems at scale. - 2+ years experience building successful production software systems. - Solid understanding and high proficiency in Python, Node.js, MongoDB, REST, GraphQL, and OOD patterns. - Experience with AWS Cloud, especially EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, S3, SNS, SQS, SES, Cognito and DynamoDB. - Experience with full-stack development frameworks, such as Amplify, Django, etc. - Experience with DevOps on software systems at large scale. - Experience applying Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures and algorithms design, problem solving, and complexity analysis. - Experience defining system architectures and exploring technical feasibility tradeoffs. - Experience working in an Agile environment. - Experience in mentoring team members and defining and championing best practices across a software team. - Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy. **Compensation:** We will offer different options in terms of salary + equity mix. **How to apply:** Apply by completing this [form](https://ift.tt/3kwSD19). In the cover letter, please focus on the hands-on projects you have contributed to previously, which you consider relevant to this position.
