So with the printing of $2,000,000,000,000, you could potentially send all that money to your crypto wallet. Doing this will make sure that the inflation of the dollar doesnt make your check worthless. The second stimulus check will be dropped right about when the BTC halving happens (May). All meaning if you get your USD turned into your crypto fast enough you could get a f*ck load of money even if the crypto doesnt go up over the next few months. All that needs to happen is the dollar to drop in value (which it will).

Our very own Douglas Tuman aka Chowbungaman of Monero Talk is running for Congress on Long Island, New York in the 4th Congressional District. Doug is endorsed by the Nassau County Republican Party.
The district primarily consist of the Town of Hempstead where he is currently the Commissioner of Engineering. Doug is running on a platform to improve infrastructure, representative democracy and…money!!!
Doug believes that Monero aligns with the ideals of America: Monero preserves liberty in the digital age. Doug promises to make Monero a big part of his campaign with the hope of becoming the first congressperson to argue on the floor of congress in support of allowing open source free speech money, aka Monero, to flourish without government intervention. True digital cash is a global utility that governments need to let blossom and compete freely.
If you want to help Doug make this a reality, please follow his new campaign twitter account, @ElectTuman and subscribe to The Douglas Tuman Campaign Show ...and please encourage your family and friends to follow and subscribe to the show too!
No matter where you live or where your friends and family live, please tell them to subscribe and spread the YouTube show. Especially with COVID-19, this campaign will be all about social media and YouTube. If we get national internet attention, Doug will have a real shot at winning - and a win for Doug will be a win for Monero.
The campaign website: www.douglastuman.com is not yet complete because we are still developing the text polling system that we will be launching to help improve representative democracy. The idea is that constituents will be able to signup with their phones to receive polling questions on the issues relevant to New York's 4th Congressional District so that Doug can effectively advocate on behalf of all his constituents.
Once the website is complete, we will begin seeking donations to fund the campaign. Monero donations will be accepted and encouraged! Stay tuned for that but for now just a Twitter follow and a subscription to our YouTube channel will go a long way!
Let’s Build a Brighter Future Together!
P.S: Monero Talk will continue to air alongside the new youtube show during the campaign and thereafter!

Hi, I was thinking of using a Raspy to run a local node (not to mine). Basically to use the device as a node + wallet (with an external HDD to host the big blockchain).
Is this, technically speaking, possible?

/r/Monero Weekly Discussion March 28 2020 - Use this thread for general chatter basic questions and if you're new to Monero
1. General questions
Where can I download the Monero wallet?
There are multiple Monero wallets for a wide range of devices at your disposal. Check the table below for details and download links. Attention: for extra security make sure to calculate and compare the
Please note the following usage of the labels:
⚠️ - Relatively new and/or beta. Use wallet with caution.
☢️ - Closed source.
How long does it take for my balance to unlock?
Your balance is unlocked after 10 confirmations (which means 10 mined blocks). A block is mined approximately every two minutes on the Monero network, so that would be around 20 minutes.
How can I prove that I sent a payment?
How do I buy Monero (XMR) with Bitcoin (BTC)?
There are dozens of exchanges that trade Monero against Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Check out the list on CoinMarketCap and choose the option that suits you best.
How do I buy Monero (XMR) with fiat?
How can I quickly exchange my Monero (XMR) for Bitcoin (BTC)?
There are multiple ways to exchange your Monero for Bitcoin, but first of all, I'd like to remind you that if you really want to do your part for Monero, one of the simplest ways is to get in touch with your merchant/service provider and request for it to accept Monero directly as payment. Ask the service provider to visit the official website and our communication channels if he or she needs help with system integration.
That being said, the community has been recommending two services in particular, XMR.TO and MorphToken. These services are only recommendations and are operated by entities outside the control of the Monero Project. Be diligent.
How do I mine Monero? And other mining questions.
The correct place to ask questions and discuss the Monero mining scene is in the dedicated subreddit r/MoneroMining. That being said, you can find a list of pools and available mining software in the GetMonero.org website.
2. Wallet: CLI & GUI
Why I can't see my balance? Where is my XMR?
Before any action there are two things to check:
Because Monero is different from Bitcoin, wallet synchronization is not instant. The software needs to synchronize the blockchain and use your private keys to identify your transactions. Check in the lower left corner (GUI) if the wallet is synchronized.
You can't send transactions and your balance might be wrong or unavailable if the wallet is not synced with the network. So please wait.
If this is not a sufficient answer for your case and you're looking for more information, please see this answer on StackExchange.
How do I upgrade my wallet to the newest version?
This question is beautifully answered on StackExchange.
Why does it take so long to sync the wallet [for the first time]?
You have decided to use Monero's wallet and run a local node. Congratulations! You have chosen the safest and most secure option for your privacy, but unfortunately this has an initial cost. The first reason for the slowness is that you will need to download the entire blockchain, which is considerably heavy (+70 GB) and constantly growing. There are technologies being implemented in Monero to slow this growth, however it is inevitable to make this initial download to run a full node. Consider syncing to a device that has an SSD instead of an HDD, as this greatly impacts the speed of synchronization.
Now that the blockchain is on your computer, the next time you run the wallet you only need to download new blocks, which should take seconds or minutes (depending on how often you use the wallet).
I don't want to download the blockchain, how can I skip that?
Be advised that when using a public remote node you lose some of your privacy. A public remote node is able to identify your IP and opens up a range for certain attacks that further diminish your privacy. A remote node can't see your balance and it can't spend your XMR.
How do I restore my wallet from the mnemonic seed or from the keys?
To restore your wallet with the 25 word mnemonic seed, please see this guide.
To restore your wallet with your keys, please see this guide.
3. Wallet: Ledger
How do I generate a Ledger Monero Wallet with the GUI or CLI?
How can my local node become a public remote node?
If you want to support other Monero users by making your node public, you can follow the instructions on MoneroWorld, under the section "How To Include Your Node On Moneroworld".
How can I connect my node via Tor?
This question is beautifully answered on StackExchange.

So I recently discovered a demand for our sacred coin when I was approached by a stranger ( a friend of a friend ) looking to buy. To my understanding they want to dollar cost average due to current prices and so buy regularly from me. When I did a bit of research it appears there are multiple people who wish to do this. I see this as an opportunity to get new people in the crypto space ( the purchasing process is difficult and extremely off putting ) and make a bit of money by charging a fee at the same time.
My questions are regarding the safe sale of Monero. Naturally I want to stay within local laws ( EU ) and I was wondering if someone could answer the following questions:
1) Is there a limit on the amount I can sell to one person without KYC ? I am worried as I am accepting fiat for XMR
2) Ultimately I want the funds they send me in return to reach my bank account as cash isn’t feasible. What is the best way of doing this anonymously?
I was considering setting up a separate PayPal account which I could use to receive funds and then send to my personal PayPal. This could then be withdrawn to my Bank Account. I understand selling crypto via PayPal is against TOS so I was wondering is this safe. I was planning on only accepting payments as friends/family to remove the danger of a chargeback. Another question is could PayPal flag the regular payments as suspicious and freeze the account ? Please let me know if there is a better method than PayPal !
3) What site is ideal to convert BTC to XMR without huge fees or KYC ?
4) Are there any other things I should be considering that may leak my identity to the stranger ? I plan on using an alternative account on this particular app for communicating. Is a vpn or routing my traffic through Tor necessary ?
5) I will be explicitly stating that I do not provide crypto for illegal services to all potential customers. Is there anything else I should do to protect myself ?
6) I use Cake Wallet on iOS as my personal Monero wallet ( not affiliated, but I would highly recommend for newcomers like myself ). Is there any need to create another wallet or can I just use this one ?
Thank you so much in advance for even attempting to answer any of these questions. If you need anything clarified be sure to let me know !

I need to generate a QR code that would include a set price, set crypto currency (XMR or others) and a given address. This code should be used to help me pay in any system where a wallet is registered.
I'm currently using this
but it helps me generate only bitcoin option,
hope I was clear, thank you !

I opened the Monero wallet today while using an Ethernet Cable to connect to my router and Nord VPN. My connection stopped working. I turned off the VPN and Monero started working. I tried again and it also started again if I closed Monero but left the VPN on. It is obvious that Monero and the VPN are interfering with each other. Eventually, I tried disconnecting the ethernet cable and using wifi. The VPN and Monero only work at the same time over Wifi, not on a wire. Any ideas?

I was wondering, since the total crypto market cap is less than $2B - and this is a small number for a government spending - what if a government decides to buy a significant portion of crypto assets (for example 30-40%) to be able to control the crypto market? Sorry for vague question and for posting this non-monero specific post to this r but this feels like my home community.

Over the past few days, shocking and terrible news has been a major issue in Korea.
Criminals made illegal spy cam sexual videos by threatening women and kids through phishing. And it was traded at telegram channel. Operator was arrested and police are now investigating other participants.
No one will deny that these evil villains should be condemned.
But what we should note is that buyers used monero to buy illegal videos. Most of them were detected by law enforcement because they sent coin directly from local KYC exchange, not a private wallet.
Koreans are now paying attention to monero's anonymity and censorship resistance.
They claim that privacy coin, such as Monero, is a hindrance to law enforcement agencies for investigating cybercrime and it should be banned.
I also heard that Huobi Korea is considering to abolish monero in the trading list.
Last week, cryptocurreny became legitimized in Korea. However, the details of the regulation will be decided by an Enforcement Decree set by the President. In other words, if the government wants, banning the privacy coin may be specified as a condition for VASP to obtain a business license.
The government has already considered this last year.
Korean crypto community, government and the media call the privacy coin a negative nickname, 'dark coin'. For them, Monero is not a tool for privacy and human rights, it is just an evil coin used by pedophiles and cybercriminals.
I think banning monero is as foolish as blocking Tor or telegram. But the public only pays attention to the fact that this great technique was abused for terrible crime, don't know how dangerous it is to sacrifice privacy just to arrest criminals.
The situation is going totally negative...

as you know or not I wanted to translate GUI,CLI,Monerujo,Cakewallet,Mymonero.org,Getmonero.com to Persian but someone said you should start with fewer like GUI at first. I dont know how many days have been past since I sent my proposal to ccs. as moderators suggestions, I edited my proposal but now I'm waiting alot. this is not a very hard situation to decide! I cant go there every day and check if my proposal has been approved or not. this is not an appropriate behavior from the Monero's team. So I want a moderator merge my request faster.
