Are there any other groups actively working on the protocol aside from Cryptium Labs and Nomadic Labs? Feels like governance capture.
I know some other teams have been working on infrastructure, or wallets, block explorers, whatever.
My assumption was that the main pull of Tezos was that anyone could propose a protocol amendment and benefit from the inflation funding, which would spur dev work on the protocol. Not seeing that happen really. I figured with the dev training some sort of uptick in interest would occur.
If all upgrades are coordinated between Nomadic and Cryptium, is this not a form of governance capture as they basically decide the roadmap? Sure bakers can vote yes or no, but if all the upgrades come from these two teams, there isn’t much of a choice in network direction.
Also if someone could point me in the right direction as to what’s happening currently for the next coordinate proposal period I would appreciate that. I’ve admittedly been out of the loop for a bit.

I was reading this document about proof of stake in Tezos - http://doc.tzalpha.net/whitedoc/proof_of_stake.html
I am curious about the part of a baker only having 1 minute to baker or else they miss their chance. How does the protocol know for sure that the timestamp of a block is correct ? What if someone lies ?

85% of total teZos staked with 421 bakers.. only 15% is in circulation and been lesser and lesser every single day as we ending towards 2020.. I think there will be only 5% left after this year and no one selling them just because of passive rewards are associated with fantastic way.. this will boast the price really up and teZos has the first POS advantage on top.. 1.76 billion USD staked in dollars. This serious guys.. please share your vision and thoughts about it..

I'm new to Tezos and would like to develop some of my own code around it.
As there are several new releases and tutorials I'm a little confused and maybe someone has a few minutes to help me with some basic questions I'm unable to get.

What community thinks, if time has come for foundation to start spending money on Marketing and onboarding tools?
I guess Tezos foundation should not miss this great opportunity which possible brings new economic model together with the most noticeable event in crypto which is about to happen in few days to get new people into community (users, developers etc.)
We can have best product in the world, but if nobody knows about it, will it ever lift off?

Hello, I recently published a peer-reviewed research article in the UK's Royal Society of Chemistry flagship journal, Chemical Science, Titled: "Computational chemistry experiments performed directly on a blockchain virtual computer".
Although the work was done using the Ethereum network, I thought that this might also be of interest to some of you here. The article details the first instance of a computational physics simulation being performed entirely within a blockchain virtual machine. In this case the experiment was a proof-of-principle study using a simple harmonic potential to model the trajectory of a vibrating carbon monoxide molecule. I have also discussed the potential benefits of this type of calculation in terms of censorship resistance, reproducibility, and provenance in theoretical scientific work.
From a more philosophical perspective, I also find it interesting that, depending on your definitions, this represents the first example showing that a small slice of the physical world can be simulated entirely within a computational environment that operates using a decentralized consensus mechanism in order to determine the history of that simulation.

hey guys. are there any developers/engineers on here, I'd like to ask and want to understand what is needed in terms of hardware to start a node? I'm sure i can rent a VPS and do the software configuration. but what piece of hardware does tezos utilize most to do its 'hashing'? eg bitcoins are mined using asic miners and other coins are more gpu or cpu intensive.
appreciate ur help guys

Carthage was supposed to be the housekeeping upgrade, and now we're due for a game changing upgrade to make Ethereum look silly right? Anyone know when and what is going to be voted on next? zk-SNARKs / other?

New Agora topic: Implementing FA2: An update on the FA2 specification and SmartPy implementation release
I'm very new to Tezos, so please have some patience with me. I'm curious about experimenting with the smart contracts, but unfortunately I'm failing at an quite early stage already.
In the sandbox as well as in the Carthagenet I'm having the issue that my commands are not being executed (not only with this, also several other commands fail):
On Gitlab (issue 568 ) this is debated and claimed the nodes would not be fully bootstrapped. Frankly I don't know what it means or how to solve it?
I'm using the Docker image from the Tutorial assets.tqtezos.com.

It is with absolute pleasure we announce the upcoming LIVE AMA for Clove Crypto Wallet featuring StakerDAO.
***The LIVE AMA is scheduled to be held on the CryptoLiveLeak YouTube channel on Thursday May 21st, 2020 at 6:00PM EST (www.youtube.com/c/cryptoliveleak)***
Twitter Announcement: https://twitter.com/CryptoLiveLeak/status/1258104321717284865
Hosted by: Tezos Boston President - Ken Garofalo - CryptoLiveLeak
Featuring: Clove Crypto Wallet - Siva Ragavan - CEO and Chief Architect & Steven Supitux - Growth
Featuring: StakerDAO - Christian Arita - Staker Product Lead
Why is Clove Crypto Wallet a massive win for the Tezos Community?
Clove Crypto Wallet has developed a unique delivery method for Cryptocurrency wallets through the power of email distribution. If you have a large email distribution list you can now send new clove crypto wallets preloaded with XTZ to these addresses with the easy of a click.
They have built customized Tezos features for delegation - this makes it easier for users to delegate to local Tezos community bakers. A lot of us have been worrying about the consolidation of baking power to big exchanges - Clove gives us another tool to help bring delegation back to our local bakers. It is with great gratitude that we have partnered with Hayek Lab, Crypto Delegate, and Tezos Capital as Media partners for this event - showing the support of the local Tezos baking community to this wallet product.
Support for FA1.2 assets - this is an extremely important development in terms building out infrastructure for tokenized assets on the Tezos platform. This is where the collaboration with StakerDAO becomes extremely important. With the feedback from StakerDAO, Jonas Lamis, and Christian Arita - Clove has clarity on KYC requirements so that Clove can provide one of the first wallet solutions for Tezos FA1.2 assets.
What are examples of Clove Crypto Wallet in use?
We have used Clove Crypto Wallet to distribute XTZ to members of a virtual Tezos Boston Meetup through collected email addresses - and Clove even built a fun staking game to further add utility and demonstrate what can be done with the Tezos staking feature.
This is a useful way to distribute XTZ to attendees of the next TQuorum - or to members of the next Tezos Commons meetup. The possibilities are endless - all you need is an email address and you have to power of on-boarding users into crypto and Tezos.
So now you've sent out wallets via email preloaded with XTZ but you're worried that people aren't opening the mail - Clove has a solution where Time can be used to limit the wallets availability to ensure no assets are lost or wasted.
More information can be found on www.clovecrypto.com
Calling all Questions - Feel free to post your questions for Clove Crypto Wallet and StakerDAO in this thread and also join us LIVE on May 21st at 6PM EST.

Dear Tezos bakers/validators,
We released a critical reliability update for all Tezos nodes. It fixes a bug in the bindings of an external C library. This bug can cause nodes to crash with a segmentation fault. We strongly encourage you to update your node as soon as possible.
We released version 7.0 which contains the fix. This node can now be used with any network, including Mainnet (the default network), test networks such as Carthagenet & new test networks that will come in the future. For more information including update instructions please visit the official documentation page: http://tezos.gitlab.io/releases/version-7.html
More information regarding the new multi-network node can be found here: http://tezos.gitlab.io/user/multinetwork.html#multinetwork
The fix has also been pushed to the mainnet branch. If you are not ready to update to the 7.0 release, you can update as usual with git pull && make.
The commit hash of the 7.0 release is 4053147fe577e9a04a5a09634a5645b2e26343e0
The commit hash of the new mainnet branch is f0607f4b1f8c0f2a0a48adb4bc76378406203714
Special thanks to all users who submitted detailed bug reports.

I am new to Tezos and been doing a lot of reading and searching on this subreddit. However I cant seem to understand what "Adjusted Reward" means. I am talking about what you see here https://www.stakingrewards.com/asset/tezos. If i am going to delegate to binance, they offer 6.384 , but the advance calculator says 6.37 (with 0 fee, as thats what binance is offering), first question is
How can they offer more than what this calculator is saying?
my second question is, what is Adj Rewards. For the above scenario it shows 1.35%, and I simply does not get this means?
